A traditional farmhouse goat’s milk cheese wrapped in chestnut leaves, Banon offers a soft, creamy texture with woody caprine notes and a gently evolving intensity.
Produced in the rugged landscapes of Haute-Provence, farmhouse Banon is a celebrated southern French cheese shaped by local tradition. Wrapped in protective chestnut leaves — once used to preserve and transport cheeses — it develops a supple white paste that becomes increasingly creamy, even runny at full ripeness.
Its flavour profile opens with unexpected softness before building towards a more pronounced caprine character, enhanced by subtle woody and vegetal notes. Made from the rich milk of goats grazing freely across the sun-drenched slopes of the Montagne de Lure, it beautifully reflects the identity of its terroir.
Warm, expressive and authentic, it brings a distinctive Mediterranean touch to any cheese board.
